It wasn't wrong Selene thought to herself, taking the little sponge and applying the makeup called 'foundation' Eris had bought. Her hair had been turned a nondescript shade of brown already by three cans of spray that Eris insisted would wash out just fine, and her wings were tied down to her back with soft straps and a harness that looped around her shoulders and waist. Eris paced by the door tossing a small ball of flames back and forth in her hands. "Are you ready
yet?" she asked the younger girl.

Selene nodded, looking at her now normal colored face and neck, and slipped on the trenchcoat and gloves. She blinked at herself in the mirror, just another ordinary girl for the moment. "Well come on then, we gotta hurry before someone catches us." Eris burned the trash in the metal can with a point of her finger. No one would guess what they were doing. That's the part that made Selene nervous.
if it wasn't wrong, why were they sneaking around?

Eris poked her head out of the door to Selene's room. Seeing no one in the hall, she motioned Selene forward, and let the way to the garden. "This is a good place." She nodded and looked around approvingly. Then she pulled out the gold colored pendant hidden under her shirt. Eris paused a moment in thought. "A-Are you sure its okay?" Selene nervously stuttered.

Eris nodded back. "All we're gonna do is look, right? We won't mess with anything, or talk to anyone...we'll just hop in, get to see our moms, and leave. Everybody else gets to time travel for all sorts of dumb things, this is important..." She broke off and let her thoughts take her out to the cold mists of Moth Cemetery in Astoria. Her mom was still buried there in the nice grave that Eris made sure always had fresh flowers on it. It wasn't Mom's fault, she hadn't known about her powers. If Mom had known she gave off flames when she
was mad, Eris was sure she wouldn't have gotten into that fight with Dad. Maybe the apartment wouldn't have exploded then and…but that was all done. They were just going to look at their moms.

Selene nodded. Her mother had died having her, and she had been only five when the Thorns had taken her. She didn't even have any pictures that she could hold. Just a vague memory of a pretty woman in a frame, standing next to a bookcase. Like Eris said, she knew she couldn't meet her, or talk to her, but just to be able to see her and know what she looked like would be good enough. "Yeah...its important."

Eris smiled at her and pushed the button on the pendant. A swirling vortex of magic opened a gold colored portal on the ground in front of her, the symbol on the ground the same as the one on the pendant. "Go ahead," she told Selene "you have to go first."

Selene looked at the portal warily. "C-Can't we go at the same time?"
Eris sighed and then smiled. "Sure, here, we'll hold hands, and on three, jump!" She held out her hand to her friend.
Selene smiled shyly and grabbed a hold of Eris's hand.
"1"

"2"

"3!"

The two girls jumped into the Ouroborus portal, its gold light
flickering and dying as it closed behind them.
