Deep End Again
Journal Entry: Thu Jul 31, 2008, 7:46 PM
In case anyone was wondering where I've been (which I doubt, but I'm feeding the ego here thanks), I have fallen off the deep-end.
1) I have the lead role in my acting troupe's most recent play. We have a month less then usual to rehearse and we're doing a play that's an hour longer then normal.
2) I've signed up for a full semester at my local community college in the hope of getting just a bit closer to a degree.
3)I'm working a 40hr week at the moment, but that may need to ramp up into the 80hr range as my work has just recently exploded in all kinds of nice, but not-raise-inducing ways.
4) I'm about to enter into a nasty, prolonged and vicious custody battle for my kid.
I'm also headed to Baltimore for Otakon next week and competing in my first ever cosplay contest. Here's hoping the corset can bribe the judges.
Sooooo...if you do happen to see me around, it'll be a miracle. Also, please say something friendly. I need the (im) moral support.

I'd tell you to lay off the coffee, but in this case it looks like you might need it!
I truly do hope everything works out for the best on the not-so-great parts.

1) Do as you normally would. Prepare the role, embrace the character, and use it to break free from your situation if 2-4 get too bad. If your acting were only a source of agony, you wouldn't have gotten this far. Milk it for all the good that it's worth.
2+3) You're insane! As those two go, one or the other can be a whole life for most people. Get whatever overtime you can from the current situation, and here's hoping that you can ease off the work life to give the student life the successful attention it takes. And remember, when these parts get too rough, fall back on #1.
4) If it weren't for the adjectives, maybe it wouldn't seem so bad. Even then, that's a big OUCH. But Moggs, that's the important stuff right there. If 1-3 need some easing off for 4 to work, let them go with a clear conscience, knowing that you're keeping your eyes and your energy on the stuff that matters. Nobody should have to go through a legal fight for their kid, of all things. Hope this goes well for you.
